(Broward County, Fla) – Tammy Freeman of Monarch High School was named “Teacher of the Year” at the Broward County Public Schools 2018 Caliber Awards. In partnership with Broward Education Foundation, Freeman was awarded a three-year lease on an all-new 2018 Camry SE, provided by Toyota of North Miami.

“We are so happy for Tammy and applaud her success,” said Shea Ciriago, Executive Director of Broward Education Foundation. “Broward Education Foundation is thrilled to facilitate Toyota of North Miami’s amazing generosity with the educators we serve. Their VIP Sales Manager Anthony Damato has been a long-time advocate and supporter of quality education in our community.”

Freeman was one out of five outstanding Broward County Public Schools teachers who were recognized as finalists for the distinction of “Teacher of the Year,” selected through a process similar to that of the Florida Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year.

“My mother was an educator, and I know how hard teachers work. I created this initiative as a way to say ‘thank you’ to deserving Broward County teachers who go the extra mile every day for their students,” said Damato. “In honor of Tammy’s achievement and for a limited time, Toyota of North Miami is offering Broward County Public Schools educators, their family and friends huge savings on car purchases. In addition, I will donate $300 to the teacher’s classroom AND $200 to Broward Education Foundation. Education partnerships like these are what makes our community great,” Damato concluded.
