Brace Cadets Banner

BRACE Cadets are peer mentors who help their classmates prepare for college, career, and life after high school by designing and implementing projects to complete applications for college, Bright Futures, scholarships, FAFSA, and much more.

Your donations provide:

  • BRACE Cadet Uniforms
    • BRACE Cadets wear branded polo shirts to identify themselves in school and community events where they help students prepare for post-secondary success.
  • Senior Graduation Cords
    • Teal and yellow cords are presented to BRACE Cadets at graduation ceremonies for building a robust college and career-going culture in their schools.
  • Achievement Incentives
    • These modest incentives (e.g., gift cards, trophies) will go to BRACE Cadets whose projects exceed all expectations. For example, a BRACE Cadet helped 80 students complete their FAFSA, resulting in over $300,000 in Pell Grants awarded!
  • Travel Expenses
    • Many BRACE Cadets cannot attend our mandatory training and special events because they don’t have transportation or are unable to pay for Uber or Lyft services. These funds would allow us to have more BRACE Cadets at our events.
  • Alumni Scholarships and Stipends
    • Many BRACE Cadet alumni are putting themselves through college, helping to support their families, and still giving back to the BRACE Cadets program. These incentives cover transportation, meals, and small incentives (e.g., gift cards) when alumni reach back to help current BCPS students.
