Funds directly benefit Broward County students

The Broward Education Foundation celebrates34 years of educational excellence during the annual Black & White Gala presented by BrightStar Credit Union. The event recognizes outstanding philanthropic organizations and businesses for their impact on educating tomorrow’s leaders.

This year’s honorees are Memorial Healthcare System, a leader in providing high-quality healthcare services to South Florida residents and one of the largest public healthcare systems in the nation, and Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., an international insurance brokerage and risk management services firm.Both have provided unwavering support for Broward Education Foundation and Broward County Public Schools.

Broward County Public Schools Chair Abby M. Freedman and Superintendent Robert Runcieare the honorary chairs of the Black & White Gala. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, 321 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. An extraordinary evening is planned beginning with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a tribute ceremony, dinner and dancing. Ticketsare $175 per person.

Lipton Toyota has generously donated a three-year lease on a 2017 Camry SE for the Gala. From today through the evening of the event, anyone can donate to win at www.browardedfoundation.org/gala.Each ticket is $100 and only 200 tickets are allotted. Second prize is $1,000 and the winner need not be present to win.

Each year, the Foundation contributes more than $2.2 million to Broward County schools, serving as the catalyst for educational excellence.
