(Broward County, Fla) – In partnership with Broward Education Foundation, the inaugural Toyota of North Miami’s “Teacher of the Year” Tour is making stops at five Broward County schools to recognize finalists for the 2018 Caliber Awards.

Five outstanding Broward County Public Schools teachers were recognized as finalists for the distinction of “Teacher of the Year,” selected through a process similar to that of the Florida Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year:

  • Stacey Brown of Pompano Beach Elementary School;
  • Diana Escobar of Coral Cove Elementary School;
  • Tammy Freeman of Monarch High School;
  • Helen Kassim of Sunland Park Academy; and
  • Frank Pizzo of Deerfield Beach High School.

“We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Toyota of North Miami and its generous contribution recognizing excellence in teaching,” said Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie, “and we look forward to continuing this partnership.”

The tour will culminate on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Broward County Public Schools 2018 Caliber Awards held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. During the ceremony, the “Teacher of the Year” will be announced and awarded a three-year lease on an all-new 2018 Camry SE, provided by Toyota of North Miami.

“Giving back to teachers that better our community every day is part of our identity at Toyota of North Miami,” said Anthony Damato, Toyota of North Miami VIP Sales Manager. “My mother was a teacher for 40 years so I appreciate how much they care for their students and how hard they work.”

“Anthony Damato has been a long-time advocate and supporter of quality education in our community,” said Shea Ciriago, Executive Director of Broward Education Foundation. “In fact, until January 7, Toyota of North Miami is also offering Broward County Public Schools educators and their friends and family special pricing, with $300 donated to the teacher’s classroom, $200 donated to Broward Education Foundation and a $250 gift card. Broward Education Foundation is thrilled to facilitate their amazing generosity to the educators we serve, and profoundly thanks him.”
