FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (July 11, 2024) – James A. Knapp has been promoted to president and CEO of Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 charitable organization solely dedicated to serving students and teachers in Broward County Public Schools.

Knapp previously served as Chief Operating Officer for Broward Education Foundation where he was an invaluable member of the senior management team. Among his many accomplishments, Knapp was the visionary force behind Broward Education Foundation’s creation of a dedicated athletic arm, the first and only education foundation in the country to do so.

A respected and influential leader in education, Knapp works closely with administrators and teachers within the Broward County Public School system, the sixth largest school district in the nation and the second largest in the state of Florida.

“I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with James for more than a year now, and I’m continually impressed by his ability to effectively work with people from all walks of life and effectuate meaningful change,” said Dr. Howard Hepburn, Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools. “He’s an exceptional leader, and I look forward to working him and the entire Foundation to help students in Broward County Public Schools achieve their highest potential.”

A natural leader, Knapp has elevated Broward Education Foundation by strategically tapping into a dynamic slate of partners and mobilizing the extended community to increase advocacy and financial support which impact student achievement. His leadership has been instrumental in driving key initiatives, optimizing the allocation of resources, and establishing and maintaining the highest standards of service delivery to the community and the Foundation’s beneficiaries.

Knapp’s commitment to excellence is reflected in his proactive approach to optimizing resource allocation and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery. As a steward of the Foundation’s mission, Knapp is dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and achieving the organization’s overarching objectives.

Prior to joining Broward Education Foundation, Knapp held development and operational leadership positions with Palm Beach Atlantic University, The Cushman School and Florida International University, where he earned a Master of Science in Higher Education and Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management. He also was a member of the football and baseball teams.

A resident of Pembroke Pines, Knapp is a board member of the Brian Piccolo Chapter, National Football Foundation, the Miramar/Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce; Vice Chair, Miami Chapter, of the Sports Business & Leadership Association; recipient of the South Florida Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Awards and a graduate of Leadership Broward.
