Celebrating its 21st year, the 2024 Broward County Sports Hall of Fame Awards honors those who have made outstanding contributions to their sport so as to reflect great credit and recognition upon the county. We are honored to recognize the dedication, passion, and excellence that have shaped the rich sports history of Broward County. Join us for an unforgettable evening as we pay tribute to these remarkable individuals who have inspired and elevated our community through their athletic prowess and commitment.
An awards banquet and induction ceremony honoring seven sports legends is set for Friday, October 18 at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. The festive evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction benefiting the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame followed by dinner and induction presentations with WSVN sports anchor Josh Moser serving as master of ceremonies.
The 2024 Broward County Sports Hall of Fame class was nominated by Broward County residents and selected by members of the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame Committee. The seven 2024 inductees will be memorialized and enshrined on the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame Honor Wall at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, alongside previous honorees.
2024 Broward County Sports Hall of Fame Inductees:
- Elliot Bonner, former football and baseball coach in Broward County
- Darius Butler, sports personality and former NFL cornerback and safety
- Diana Nyad, long-distance swimmer
- Steve Shapiro, former WSVN sports anchor
- Lexi Thompson, professional golfer on the LPGA tour
- Hollywood Hills High School 1973 4A State Championship Football Team
- Abbas Karimi, Spirit Award Winner, swimmer and Paralympic athlete, 2-time silver medal Paralympian from the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris
