The memory of Ann Wilson is honored through the Ann Wilson Memorial Scholarship, which is dedicated to Pompano Beach High School students who choose to enrich their lives through the arts and/or athletics.
Ann was a language arts teacher in Broward County for over 25 years, with some of her most treasured moments during her tenure at Pompano Beach High School. She loved to teach, and her enthusiasm and dedication to education was evident not only to her students but to all those who knew her. Ann may have lost her courageous battle with cancer in 2019, but her impact lives on in the hearts of her friends, family, colleagues, and students.
Ann was a devoted mother to Allison, Matthew, and Sarah, and of course, her beloved dog Redbeard. She spent many a weekend at Matt’s football games or Allison’s theater performances, or watching Sarah play the clarinet in Orlando. Ann cherished the writings of classic authors, but most of all loved to read the writing of her students, family, and friends – encouraging them to express themselves from the heart, and creating many a life-long writer in the process, representing genres such as journalism, novels and poetry.
Given her passion for supporting students involved in the arts and sports, we are asking scholarship applicants to submit a short essay (300 to 500 words) explaining how the visual/literary/performing arts or athletics has enriched or impacted your life.
Please consider applying for this scholarship whether or not you were a student of Mrs. Wilson. She would be so proud of all of you!
