Delivers School Supplies to Quarantined Pre-K Students in Surprise Teacher Caravan
TAMARAC, Fla. (May 5, 2020) – A Tamarac Elementary pre-K teacher who is battling cancer selflessly celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week by delivering supplies to her quarantined students on Tuesday, May 5. Passino, who just completed her final round of chemotherapy, led a festive car caravan and surprised students with much-needed arts and crafts supplies thanks to a Broward Education Foundation and Office Depot COVID-19 Virtual Learning Teacher Supply Drive grant.
This generous Broward County Public Schools teacher opted to take time out and help her special students during this challenging time instead of utilizing the funds to purchase remote-learning tools. Now, when she teaches a virtual class, the children will all have the essential supplies to create interactive craft projects together.
When asked if she was worried about making deliveries as she is immuno-compromised, she said, “Not at all, I will wear a mask and can’t wait to see all my kiddo’s faces,” said Jennifer Passino.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Broward Education Foundation and Office Depot Virtual Learning Teacher Supply Drive raises funds to help teachers purchase needed distance learning tools and supplies such as headphones, microphones, whiteboards and software so they may keep students engaged, focused and learning.
