(Fort Lauderdale, Fla) – Lucky’s Markets in Plantation and Coral Springs donated nearly $5,000 to Broward Education Foundation to support initiatives in Broward County Public Schools.
The funds will benefit:
- The Garden Delights Program, a program that installs edible gardens in Title I Broward County Public Schools. Each year, 19 Broward County Public Schools participate in Garden Delights by designing, installing, maintaining and harvesting vegetable gardens. Students learn to incorporate math, science, reading and writing through a nutrition integrated, curriculum-based program.
- Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland for $758.
- Maplewood Elementary in Coral Springs for $540.
“Giving back to the local communities we serve is part of our DNA at Lucky’s Market,” said Lucky’s Market Store Director Andrew Smith. “Education is something we are passionate about and we are thrilled to partner with the Broward Education Foundation for their inspiring initiatives.”
Lucky’s Market in Oakland Park is supporting Broward County Public School teachers by hosting the Broward Education Foundation Grant Writing Workshop on Wednesday, November 15 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Teachers attend the workshop to gain insights into applying for Innovative Teacher Grants, which the Broward Education Foundation awards annually. To date nearly 300 Innovator Grants totaling more than $186,000 have been awarded to Broward County Public School teachers.
