BROWARD COUNTY – Broward Education Foundation named Sue Colton, a 32-year veteran of Broward County Public Schools, to its board of directors. Broward Education Foundation is the only 501(c)3 organization solely dedicated to transforming the lives of students through the support of quality public education.

Broward Education Foundation Board Member Sue Colton Colton began her illustrious career in 1977 as a first grade substitute teacher at Tamarac Elementary. She went on to teach at Cresthaven and Maplewood Elementary Schools, and served as assistant principal at Coral Springs Elementary and principal of Forest Hills Elementary. In 2002, she became director of leadership development for Broward County Public Schools. For 13 years, Principal Colton led Parkside Elementary School where she designed, created and developed a state entrepreneurial business model for innovation.

“Sue’s leadership, knowledge and experience will be a tremendous asset to our board of directors,” said Broward Education Foundation Executive Director Shea Ciriago. “She will help Broward Education Foundation continue to be agile, adept and responsive to the shifting needs in education and our community.”

Most notably, Colton was inducted into Broward Education Foundation’s 2013 Hall of Fame recognizing distinguished alumni of Broward Schools, for her dedicated career in public education.

Colton is currently an adjunct professor at Broward College and recently published her first book, Principal’s Passion: A Quest for Quality Public Education, which has become a bestseller on Amazon.

A resident of Pompano Beach and an alumna of Pompano Beach High, Colton earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Florida Atlantic University.
