FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (September 24, 2021) – Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 directly supporting Broward County Public Schools, announced that community leaders Kathy Salerno and Alex Price were elected to the non-profit’s board of directors.

Kathryn “Kathy” Salerno is the director of community affairs for Broward Health, one of the 10 largest public healthcare systems in the country. Interfacing with a broad spectrum of key stakeholders including corporate executives, governmental officials and agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Salerno seamlessly directs engagement within Broward County’s diverse community. Working tirelessly to raise awareness and educate the public about Broward Health’s comprehensive network of premier healthcare providers and service lines, Salerno is a proven, dynamic community advocate. A strategic leader who realizes the importance of garnering community support through interaction and reinvestment, she lives her mission through a deep commitment to and building solid relationships within the community. Prior to joining Broward Health, Salerno served as the senior regional manager for the Florida Department of Financial Services where she represented Florida’s Chief Financial Officer in Southeast Florida. She has extensive experience in the political arena, holding senior leadership roles on several  campaigns.

As the national director of community investment for Office Depot, Alex Price is a passionate executive and respected communicator who leads the company’s corporate affairs and community relations endeavors. Experienced in aligning corporate social responsibility with impactful community investment platforms, Price has developed and managed award-winning nationwide programs that drive both business and build culture. A strategic thinker and collaborator, his campaigns have engaged more than 40,000 Office Depot associates in community advocacy and invested more than $20 million in products, services and funding into distressed communities throughout North America. Price has also been a longtime supporter of Broward Education Foundation with Office Depot’s Start Proud! campaign which distributes 1,000 new backpacks filled with school supplies to students in Title I schools in Broward County. Prior to joining Office Depot, Price held executive communication and community affairs positions at Comcast, ADT, iCan Group and the New York City Department of Education.
