Nominations Now Open For Graduates of Broward County Public Schools Who Demonstrate a Positive Community Impact and Champion Education

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (August 11, 2022) – Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 charitable organization solely dedicated to serving students and teachers in Broward County Public Schools, announced it is accepting nominations for the annual 2022 Hall of Fame awards. The annual event recognizes graduates of Broward County Public Schools who have made significant contributions to the community, their profession and in education.

If you know of a deserving community luminary or a champion of education, please nominate at browardeducationfoundation.org/nominate by September 2, 2022.

Honorees will be recognized in the following categories:

  • Bravo! Award, presented to an alumnus who has made an indelible mark in the community
  • Outstanding Achievement Award, presented to alumni who have made significant achievements in any field
  • Education Achievement Award, presented to alumni who have dedicated their careers to public education

“We are proud to be celebrating a decade of shining a light on the significant achievements of deserving Broward County Public Schools graduates,” said Shea Ciriago, CEO of Broward Education Foundation. “We are continually amazed by our distinguished honorees who have made remarkable contributions to the community, in education, and in their respective careers.”

Last year’s distinguished Hall of Fame honorees included national recording artists and punk-pop band New Found Glory, recognized for their positive impact on youth across the country; Cindy Stoddart Cooper, a cable industry and public relations leader and philanthropist; Thomas Good, Jr., vice mayor of Pembroke Pines; Dr. Katrina Davis-Kennedy, nurse practitioner, professor, author, entrepreneur; Mary Barba, assistant director at Sheridan Technical College and High School; Antonio Burgess, Broward County Public Schools educator and Debra Hixon, Broward County School Board member and educator along with many others.

Reminiscent of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California, Broward’s distinguished alumni will be honored with large, engraved granite stars on the BrightStar Credit Union “Walk of Fame” permanently located at the Broward County Public Schools District Office, 600 S.E. Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale.
