(Parkland, Fla) – Broward Education Foundation and members of the steering committee responsible for setting the distribution policy for funds collected through the official Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund will continue to fundraise through June 30.
Donations can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/stonemandouglasvictimsfund or a corporate or personal check designated in the memo line for the “Stoneman Douglas Fund” can be sent directly to Broward Education Foundation, 600 S.E. 3rd Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
“We already know from the application process that there are many victims and families that were impacted. We intend to give them as much financial support as we possibly can,” said former U.S. Senator George S. LeMieux, chair of the steering committee. “Together we can make a difference. Please log on today to donate.”
The donations, which will begin to be distributed in July, are gifts that are given to victims without any restriction on their use.
“Obviously, there is no amount of money that can replace a loved one,” said Cristina Fischer, Broward Education Foundation Board Chair. “But we believe that the victims and families are in the best position to determine how these funds would be most beneficial to their healing.”
The victims’ families, survivors and those impacted will receive 100 percent of the donations made to the Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund.
“When Broward Education Foundation initiated this fund in the aftermath of this horrific day, we had no idea where it would lead,” said Shea Ciriago, executive director of Broward Education Foundation. “The generosity of businesses, foundations and individuals in our community and beyond was extraordinary. But we can’t let up. We have to continue to raise funds to help these victims and families in their greatest time of need.”
