FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (March 1, 2022) – Teachers and students in Title I Broward County Public Schools will benefit from a $13,500 City of Pompano Beach grant to the Broward Education Foundation that will underwrite much-needed educational supplies.

“Teachers in Title I schools come to Broward Education Foundation’s School Supply Center in Pompano Beach to shop for school supplies for free, so we are incredibly grateful to the city for its longtime support,” said Shea Ciriago, CEO of Broward Education Foundation. “A high-percentage of economically disadvantaged students benefit from the donations we receive at our School Supply Center.”

During the 2020-2021 school year, Broward Education Foundation provided 12,000 Broward County Public School teachers with a school supplies and PPE for their students and for their classrooms valued at more than $2 million, directly benefitting 260,000 students in Pre-K through grade 12.

The City of Pompano Beach supports a variety of nonprofit organizations with a special emphasis on those that work to achieve its goals and objectives and highlight the City’s rich cultural make-up as a community, in particular those that support workforce readiness, education, senior assistance and/or community events.
